I'm dismayed when I see how popular R, Python, and Matlab have become. They're all a bunch of bolt-on centric scripting languages, about as bad as anything during the 70s through the 90s. I can build impressive things with Legos too. Massive numbers of employers want programmers in these "languages" because, well, they're going to need them. So, it was with great joy that I found this gem on ycombinator:
Some people, when confronted with a problem, think
"I know, I'll use MATLAB." Now they have two problems.
Who knows... maybe the tide is turning.
